This Privacy Policy explains how Nodal (“we”, “our”, “us”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use our software-as-a-service platform that enables the creation of static and dynamic QR codes (“Service”). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect information you provide such as your name, email address, password, and payment details if you subscribe to a paid plan.
Usage Information
We may collect information about how you interact with the Service, including:
- Actions taken within the platform (e.g., creating or managing QR codes)
- Log data such as IP address, browser type, device identifiers, and timestamps
- Aggregated analytics about scans of your QR codes (e.g., scan counts, coarse location or device data when available)
QR Code Content
For static and dynamic QR codes, we store the destination URL or content you enter and dynamic code configuration (including variable fields). We do not access or inspect the content of your QR codes except as necessary to operate, maintain, or troubleshoot the Service, or as required by law.
Payment Processing
Payments may be handled by third-party processors. We do not store full payment card information.
2. How We Use Information
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
- Generate aggregated or anonymized analytics
- Communicate with you regarding your account, updates, security notices, or support
- Prevent or respond to security issues, fraud, abuse, or legal obligations
- Enforce our Terms of Service
We may use aggregated or de-identified data for internal purposes, research, product development, or marketing; such data does not identify you personally.
3. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with:
- Service providers that help us operate the platform (e.g., hosting, analytics, payment processing)
- Legal authorities if required by law or to protect our rights
- Successors in the event of a merger, acquisition, or asset transfer
We limit disclosure to only what is necessary for the intended purpose.
4. QR Code Scan Data
We collect scan metrics in aggregate form (e.g., scan counts, device type, coarse location when available). We do not identify individual scanners. For dynamic QR codes, a unique value may be added to the URL when scanned; we do not attach this value to personally identifiable information unless you explicitly provide such data elsewhere.
You are responsible for ensuring your QR codes and destinations comply with applicable laws and privacy obligations relevant to your users or customers.
5. Data Retention
We retain data as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. We may retain certain information for legal, security, or operational reasons even after account deletion.
6. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect information. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. International Transfers
Data may be processed or stored in locations outside your jurisdiction. By using the Service, you consent to such transfers, subject to applicable legal safeguards.
8. Your Choices
- Update account information through your dashboard
- Request deletion of your account by contacting us
- Opt out of non-essential communications
Certain features or data may remain unavailable if you restrict data we rely on for core functionality.
9. Children’s Privacy
The Service is not intended for individuals under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The revised version will be posted with an updated “Last updated” date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
